EAT PLAY SLEEP Recommended Essentials for Sleep Training

None of these items are mandatory, they are just really helpful during sleep training. Since my sleep training is mostly all done online via email, it makes things easier for us while we sleep train. This way, when we trouble shoot during sleep training, I know my essential items are not the reason we are not sleeping.

My first essential item is the right swaddle blanket. Not until 3-4 months of age, babies start to learn to control their limbs. Until then, their arms flare, twitch and move all around with no control. These blankets help their limbs not startle them. Either the Miracle Blanket or Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle is what I like to use. Other blankets may be cuter or have the right graphics you like, but these are pretty much full proof if they are used correctly.

The second thing, I like my clients to have is a sound machine. I like this Conair Sound Machine the best. There are tons on the market. No need to spend lots of $$$ on a sound machine. This one has a great white noise or waterfall that has constant loud noise to block out the neighbors dog barking, the gardener blowing leaves behind the nursery window, someone knocking at the door, a sibling playing loudly in the house or dropping a fork in the kitchen while the baby is sleeping. Again, a sound machine is not necessary, it just helps when sleep training your baby, that I know these noises are not disturbing your baby. This way, no one has to tip toe around the house or whisper that the baby is sleeping.

I also recommend getting black out blinds or curtains, or the darker the better. This just helps when daylight savings or early summer light comes in. This way, it helps me to know that the early morning light or the sun coming in isn't what is waking the baby. The baby can sleep in a bright room, this isn't a problem. It just helps me out while training your baby to sleep, and will help you out as well. If you have any further questions regarding sleep training, please contact me at Eat Play Sleep. I am happy to help.
